Russian streaming services "Amediateka" and "KinoPoisk" have removed a character from the series "The Sopranos" who, according to the storyline, represented the LGBT community (the international LGBT public movement is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation). This information was reported by the Telegram channel "We Can Explain."
According to the source, "Amediateka" deleted all references to the homosexuality of one of the characters, Vito Spatafore. It is also reported that the scenes are missing on "KinoPoisk," where the series is available.
The channel links this decision to the law on "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relationships," which came into effect in December 2022 in Russia. Under this law, fines for legal entities can reach up to 10 million rubles. The services have already faced fines for violating the law.
Earlier, it was reported that the track by Pasha Tekhnik and Slava KPSS was removed for promoting non-traditional relationships. The song "Pissed Melons" has disappeared from Russian streaming platforms.
