Actress Noémie Merlant, renowned for her role as Emmanuelle in the eponymous French film, revealed that she was a victim of harassment during her teenage years. She shared this in an interview with the publication "Gazeta.Ru".
According to her, the perpetrator was never held accountable: the management of the modeling agency she collaborated with sided with him.
“I was immediately made to understand that I was just a body, that I should keep my mouth shut. At my very first photo shoot, the photographer harassed me, even though I was a minor. This continued for years, and the agency supported the photographer,” the actress stated.
It was previously reported that the director of the new version of the film “Emmanuelle,” Audrey Diwan, criticized the old adaptation of the eponymous novel from 1974. In her view, the infamous film is rife with sexism.
