Chesnokov on Swiatek's disqualification: "Just one month for a positive doping test is utterly ridiculous."

Andrei Chesnokov, a finalist in the 1995 Davis Cup, shared his thoughts on the one-month suspension of Poland's world number two, Iga Swiatek, for violating anti-doping regulations.

1995 Davis Cup finalist Andrey Chesnokov expressed his views on the one-month suspension of Poland's world number two Iga Swiatek for violating anti-doping regulations.

“You see, some get 18 months for missing doping tests, even though they don’t fail the tests, while others receive just one month for a positive sample; it's simply ridiculous. There was a case when Serena Williams kicked out a doping officer – anyone else would be disqualified for that, but not Serena. This once again shows that the treatment of athletes around the world is not consistent,” Chesnokov told TASS.

In Swiatek's doping tests, trimetazidine was found, which may have entered the athlete's system through contaminated sleeping pills.
