Former Russian national team forward Dmitry Bulykin recalled his unsuccessful transfer to Moscow's CSKA.
“I could have joined CSKA and even spoke with Evgeny Giner. But it didn’t work out. I remember expressing in the press that I had talked to the army club, and Evgeny Lenorovich told me that I made a mistake by informing journalists about it. Yes, I could have become part of the team that won the UEFA Cup, but I don’t regret anything,” Bulykin is quoted by “RB Sport”.
CSKA won the UEFA Cup in 2005, defeating Sporting 3:1 in the final. The army team became the first Russians to win this tournament in its history.
Bulykin ended his professional career in March 2016. Throughout his career, the former forward scored 105 goals and provided 36 assists in 369 matches for all teams across all tournaments.
