Fetisov sees no issues with Ovechkin's injury: "Nothing should throw him off his game."

Two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov shared his thoughts with "Sport-Express" regarding how the injury to Washington forward Alexander Ovechkin will impact the player's performance.

Two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov shared his thoughts with "SE" on how the injury of Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin might affect the player's performance.

“It’s disappointing, especially since he had started scoring consecutively. However, he is an experienced individual in this regard, and nothing should throw him off track. Hockey is a sport with a high risk of injury. I hope that during this time he can take a breather. I don't think it will have any impact if it’s really a minor injury. I don’t see any difficulties,” Fetisov told “SE”.

According to the Capitals' press service, the forward sustained a calf injury and is expected to return in the coming weeks. On Wednesday, the Russian player will undergo further examinations with the team's doctors in Washington.

Ovechkin has scored 868 goals in 1,444 NHL games. The Russian forward needs to score 26 more goals to tie Wayne Gretzky's scoring record.
