Two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov commented to "SE" on The Athletic's survey results, which revealed that 98.1 percent of NHL players want Washington forward Alexander Ovechkin to break Wayne Gretzky's record.
“This is a record that seemed unbreakable just a couple of years ago, and everyone will say they played in the era of Ovechkin. I think even Gretzky himself is waiting for this to happen. In any case, it will be an event not only in the hockey world but also in the sports world,” Fetisov told "SE".
To tie Wayne Gretzky's record (894), the Russian forward needs to score 26 more goals.
