The Continental Hockey League (KHL) has launched a 3x3 hockey championship, as reported on the league's official website.
The new tournament will kick off on December 19. Eight KHL teams from three countries will participate, divided into two divisions: "Avangard," "Ak Bars," "Metallurg," "Salavat Yulaev," "Sibir," "Traktor," "Barys," and Minsk's "Dynamo."
The regular championship will run from December 2024 to June 2025. A total of 312 matches will be played across 24 rounds. At the end of the regular season, the top three teams from each division will advance to the superfinal, which consists of a group stage and playoffs. The group stage will be held in a single round-robin format, after which the four best teams will move on to the playoffs. The final of the first season of the KHL 3x3 championship is scheduled for July 13, 2025.
There will be two types of registrations for the championship: for the tournament and for the season. At least one player on the tournament roster must have played a minimum of 200 KHL matches in their career or at least 80 matches in the league over the last five seasons. The season roster may include players on two-way or three-way contracts, unrestricted free agents over 22 years old, as well as players who have gone through the waiver process.
