The artistic director of the Oleg Tabakov Moscow Theater, Vladimir Mashkov, has been sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison in Ukraine. This was reported by the Telegram channel of the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office.
The case against Mashkov was initiated in March 2024 due to his involvement in the presidential election campaign in Russia, as well as his public support for the special military operation (SMO).
“Mashkov has been found guilty of encroaching on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine and of promoting war. The sentenced individual has been assigned a punishment of 10 years of imprisonment along with the confiscation of his apartment in Odessa,” the agency reported.
It is known that on December 21, 2023, Mashkov became the co-chairman of Vladimir Putin's election headquarters, and in his interviews, he has repeatedly endorsed Russia's actions during the SMO.
