Leading specialist at the Phobos Weather Center, Yevgeny Tishkovets, provided a comment to "SE" regarding the situation with the Balkan cyclone "Caetano," which has arrived in Moscow from the southwest.
"As of 9 AM in Moscow, a snow cover has formed: 2 centimeters at VDNH, and 1 centimeter in Tushino and at Moscow State University. Snow will fall throughout the day until nightfall. A significant amount is expected: 10-12 mm of precipitation. This translates to water. In other words, if the snow is melted, it will yield 10-12 liters of rainwater per square meter. However, since it will fall in solid form as snow and wet snow, the temperature remains in the positive range from 0 to 2 degrees. Thus, everything will settle. Due to the humidity, it will compact. Therefore, the overall cover will increase to a maximum of 3-5 centimeters, no more. In the Moscow region, snowdrifts, especially in the West, around Mozhaysk and Volokolamsk, already measure 12-17 centimeters of December snow. So, I believe the stadiums in Moscow will manage," Tishkovets told "SE".
On November 23, three matches will take place in Moscow. At 14:15 Moscow time, the match between CSKA and Rostov will kick off at VEB Arena. Following that, Khimki and Krasnodar will face off at Arena Khimki, starting at 16:30. Later, the derby between Spartak and Lokomotiv will occur at Lukoil Arena, with a scheduled start at 18:00.
