The memoirs of former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, titled "Freedom," will be available for purchase on Tuesday, November 26. Excerpts from the book were published by the magazine Zeit.
In particular, Merkel recalls the NATO summit in Bucharest in 2008, during which it was decided to postpone the accession of Moldova and Ukraine to the alliance. The former chancellor emphasizes that she believes the decisions made were correct.
A portion of the memoirs is dedicated to notable world leaders, specifically Russian President Vladimir Putin and the elected head of the White House, Donald Trump.
On May 13, it was announced that Merkel would release her memoirs, which will be published under the title "Freedom: Memories 1954-2021" in November 2024. According to the American publisher Pan Macmillan, in the book, Merkel will recount her life journey from childhood in East Germany to the beginning of her political career and work in the upper echelons of power in Germany "in more detail than ever before."
