Sushinsky on the creation of a 3x3 hockey championship: "The format is exciting due to the abundance of goals and offensive plays."

Former Avangard player Maxim Sushinsky commented to "Sport-Express" on the creation of a 3x3 hockey championship by the KHL.

Former Avangard player Maxim Sushinsky commented to "SE" on the creation of the KHL's 3x3 hockey championship.

“Let’s see how this tournament goes; the 3x3 format is intriguing because it features more goals and offensive plays rather than defensive ones. As I understand, the players will be those who are not in the main roster, or from the VHL. The top players of the teams will not participate. Why do young people enjoy watching this? They are always looking for something new and exciting,” Sushinsky told "SE".

The new tournament will kick off on December 19. Eight KHL teams from three countries will participate, divided into two divisions: Avangard, Ak Bars, Metallurg, Salavat Yulaev, Sibir, Traktor, Barys, and Dinamo Minsk.

The regular championship will run from December 2024 to June 2025. A total of 312 matches will be played over 24 rounds. The final of the first season of the KHL 3x3 championship is scheduled for July 13, 2025.
