American boxer Mike Tyson, after his loss to fellow countryman Jake Paul, revealed that he fought for his life in June, undergoing eight blood transfusions.
“This is one of those situations where you lose but still feel like a winner. I am grateful for the fight and have no regrets about stepping into the ring one last time. In June, I almost died. I had eight blood transfusions. I lost half of my blood and over 11 kg while in the hospital,” Tyson shared on his social media.
The boxer takes pride in the fact that his children witnessed him go eight rounds with a talented fighter in front of a packed stadium.
“This is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you,” he added.
Tyson and Paul faced off in a boxing event in Arlington (USA), which took place on the night of November 16. The fight lasted 8 rounds and was officially sanctioned. The 27-year-old Paul won by unanimous decision (80-72, 79-73, 79-73).
Overall, the 58-year-old Tyson has a record of 50 wins (44 by knockout) and 7 losses.
