Volkov's coach on Jones' victory: "Miocic is no longer the fighter he used to be."

Taras Kiyashko, coach of UFC fighter Alexander Volkov, responded to the victory of American Jon Jones over his compatriot Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 309.

Jones knocked out Miocic with a body shot in the third round.

“I wouldn’t say that Jon is no longer the same. Everything went according to his plan. He fought well, slowed Miocic down, and could have finished it with elbows in the first round, while in the second he was clearly dominating. It’s Miocic who is not the same anymore. He was certainly held back, but Jones is impressive, he did great,” quoted Kiyashko by “RB Sport”.

The 37-year-old American defended his UFC heavyweight championship title. He now boasts 28 wins and 1 loss in his career, with 1 fight being declared a no contest.

Miocic's record stands at 20 wins and 4 losses. The 42-year-old fighter announced his retirement after losing to Jones.
