Renowned artist Sergey Chesnokov-Ladyzhensky, whose works are housed in the State Tretyakov Gallery, has passed away at the age of 70. This was reported by his wife, Elena Rzhevskaya, on the social network Facebook (banned in Russia; owned by Meta, which has been designated as an extremist organization and is prohibited in the Russian Federation).
According to her, Chesnokov-Ladyzhensky was working on new paintings until his last days.
“He painted at the easel until the very last day. His artistic legacy is yet to be appreciated and understood. Currently, his anniversary exhibition titled 'Multifaceted City' is taking place, which has turned out to be posthumous,” she wrote in her post.
Chesnokov-Ladyzhensky was born in 1954 in Moscow and was a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. His paintings are part of collections at the State Tretyakov Gallery, the 'Morsbroich' Museum, and the Preussag Group in Germany, as well as in private collections in Austria, Hungary, Germany, and Italy.
It was previously reported that a famous singer, a member of the group “Na-Na,” has also passed away.
