The President of the International MMA Federation, Viktor Drozdov, announced that the 2025 World Championship in mixed martial arts could take place in Russia.
“We are pleased with the successful execution of the first world championship under the auspices of the newly established federation. The next tournament may be hosted in Russia, with several options being considered. Russian athletes will also compete under the national flag and with the country's anthem, and that is not up for discussion,” Drozdov is quoted by TASS.
From November 22 to 24, the first world championship in MMA under the aegis of the new international federation took place in Khanty-Mansiysk. Russian athletes, competing under the national flag and with the country's anthem, secured 14 gold medals.
