On November 20, the current senator from the legislative authority of the Rostov region, Irina Rukavishnikova, announced that she is resigning early "in connection with her transition to another job."
Two days later, deputies of the Rostov parliament convened for an extraordinary meeting, and the first item on the agenda was the appointment of a new senator.
“The United Russia faction has proposed the candidacy of deputy Vasily Golubev; no nominations have been received from other factions,” said the chairman of the Don parliament, Alexander Ishchenko, as he read a biographical note about Mr. Golubev. Following this, Mr. Golubev delivered a brief speech, outlining the main areas of government work: social issues, support for military personnel and their families, and the preservation of sovereignty. He also expressed gratitude to Irina Rukavishnikova for her work and collaboration. Later, at a press briefing, Mr. Ishchenko echoed this sentiment: “I would like to thank Irina Valeryevna for her exceptionally intense cooperation with the Don parliament... I am confident that our collaboration will continue in a new capacity at the federal level; in any case, we are set on continuing the dialogue.”
