According to the source, the 80-year-old actor was suffering from cataracts, which led to a rapid loss of sight. "Recently, he underwent a high-tech microsurgical procedure to replace the lens of one eye with an intraocular lens," the message states.
The procedure was completed without complications, the channel clarifies, and the actor has already been discharged from the hospital and returned to work. It is noted that after the surgery, Smirnitsky will be able to see well both at a distance and at intermediate ranges.
