A parliament member from Primorye, accused of corruption, has resigned from her mandate.

The Legislative Assembly of Primorsky Krai has voted to terminate the powers of deputy Anna Aleko ahead of schedule. This decision was made based on her formal written request.
Депутат парламента Приморья, обвиняемая в коррупции, решила отказаться от своего мандата.

Currently, a criminal case against Ms. Aleko is being heard in the Frunzensky District Court of Vladivostok. She is accused of receiving bribes (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and exceeding her official powers (Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), as reported by the regional prosecutor's office. According to the investigation, during 2018-2019, while serving as the director of the state autonomous cultural institution "Primorsky Regional Philharmonic," Anna Aleko received bribes twice totaling 5 million rubles, as well as Rado watches worth over 90,000 rubles, "for general patronage and limiting competition in favor of LLC 'Integra' in the supply of musical equipment." Furthermore, the investigation alleges that Anna Aleko unlawfully signed "documents for the acceptance of musical instruments and specialized equipment that were not actually supplied under the contract, amounting to over 5 million rubles."

Anna Aleko was elected as a deputy of the Primorsky Territory Legislative Assembly in September 2021 on the "United Russia" list, taking second place after Governor Oleg Kozhemyako in the regional candidate trio. In the regional parliament, she became the deputy chairperson of the committee on regulations, deputy ethics, and organizational work.

Anna Aleko is the third deputy of the Primorsky Territory parliament of the 2021 convocation to lose her powers prematurely due to criminal prosecution. In July of last year, the United Russia member Dmitry Nazarets lost his mandate. The chairman of the committee on regulations and deputy ethics, Vsevolod Romanov, stated that since July 2022, Mr. Nazarets has been outside of Russia, not fulfilling his duties as a deputy and systematically missing sessions of the legislative assembly. It later emerged that Dmitry Nazarets is wanted internationally. He is accused of timber smuggling amounting to 637 million rubles. According to the investigation, Mr. Nazarets led an organized group that engaged in illegal activities.

In September of last year, the powers of Communist Party member Artem Samsonov were terminated due to the enforcement of a guilty verdict by the court. The politician was found guilty of committing a crime under paragraph "b" of Part 4 of Article 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (other sexual acts involving a helpless victim, committed against a person under the age of 14).

According to the investigation, in 2018 at a recreation center in the suburbs of Vladivostok, Deputy Samsonov showed an 11-year-old boy a dildo and "explained its intended use." As punishment, Artem Samsonov was sentenced to 13 years in a high-security colony. During the investigation and trial, the politician refused to admit guilt. He insisted that the charges were politically motivated and based on slander.
