The Ukrainian embassy was fined 2.5 million rubles for unpaid electricity bills.

The Arbitration Court of Moscow has ruled in favor of PAO MOEK in its lawsuit against the Ukrainian Embassy in Russia, ordering the diplomatic mission to pay 2.5 million rubles to settle its debt for supplied energy resources. The Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Moscow ceased operations on February 24, 2022, following the commencement of the special military operation.

“The Arbitration Court of the city has decided to recover from the Embassy of Ukraine in the Russian Federation a debt in favor of the Public Joint Stock Company 'Moscow United Energy Company' for supplied energy resources amounting to 2,305,140.79 rubles, along with a penalty of 184,991.08 rubles,” a source told TAAS in court.

In January and February of this year, over 4 million rubles were also recovered from the Ukrainian diplomatic mission through similar lawsuits.

Russia terminated the lease agreement with the Embassy of Ukraine in Moscow in February 2024. This decision was made as a retaliatory measure following last year's decision by the Kyiv City Council.
