Changes have been made to the presidential decree "On the Establishment of Professional Holidays and Memorial Days in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation." The amendments took effect on the day of signing — November 27.

The Day of the Marine Corps has been officially celebrated on November 27 since 1996. Previously, this was based on the order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy "On the Introduction of Annual Holidays and Professional Days by Specialty." The Day of the Marine Corps coincides with the establishment of the "Regiment of Marine Soldiers" by Peter I's decree dated November 27 (November 16 in the old style) in 1705. In 2024, the 319th anniversary of the Marine Corps will be celebrated.
