In a conversation with “SE” dietitian and gastroenterologist Rustem Sadykov explained why healthy fats are essential for the body.
According to him, they play a crucial role in the absorption of vitamins such as A, D, E, and K. Without healthy fats, the human body would not be able to effectively process and utilize these important vitamins.
Secondly, healthy fats are vital for brain function, which is composed of 60% fats. Therefore, their consumption is necessary to maintain optimal brain health.
Thirdly, healthy fats contribute to heart health. Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids help lower bad cholesterol levels, thereby reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Additionally, healthy fats aid in weight management. Despite being calorie-dense, they provide a prolonged feeling of fullness, surpassing carbohydrates and proteins in this aspect. Including healthy fats in the diet allows for longer satiety, which in turn helps prevent overeating and makes it easier to control food intake.
