The playmaker for the Russian national team and CSKA-2, Ilya Ermakov, shared his thoughts on Alexey Shved's game in an interview with “SE” and named his favorites in the NBA.
— Do you have a favorite match of the Russian national team?
— Yes, it’s the match against Argentina for the bronze medal at the 2012 Olympics. I have watched this game many times and noted the details. I really want to test myself at such a level. God willing, we will be given the opportunity to qualify for major tournaments, but it’s difficult at the moment.
— That match against Argentina was a showcase for the 23-year-old Alexey Shved. Was he your role model?
— I have been following him throughout my basketball career, even though it’s still not very long. I admire how Alexey handles the ball and his passes. They are very sharp. Shved makes decisions in a split second. I would like to achieve the same understanding of the game, but I wouldn’t say he is my idol.
— Who is your favorite player? Someone from the NBA?
— I pay the most attention to the games of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Anthony Edwards. These are two players whose strengths I would like to have in my arsenal. The way Shai controls his body and Edwards’ mentality are impressive. And of course, their athleticism is remarkable.
