Norwegian biathlete Tarjei Bø commented on the rejection of Russian athlete Yevgeny Ustyugov's appeal against his disqualification and the annulment of results from several years.
In 2011, Ustyugov became the silver medalist in the mass start at the World Championships. After the medal was stripped, Bø, who finished in fourth place in that race, was elevated to the bronze medal position.
“This photo is from 2011. My best championship with 5 medals. A few days ago, I received a sixth. This medal is for everyone who supports clean sport. I congratulate the other athletes who received their medals, earned many years ago. We won the battle,” wrote Bø on social media.
On November 26, it became known that the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne (CAS) rejected the appeal of Russian biathlete Yevgeny Ustyugov regarding the stripping of his medals from the 2010 Olympic Games.
In 2020, the Anti-Doping Panel of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS ADD) found Ustyugov guilty of violating anti-doping rules, imposing a disqualification and annulment of results from January 2010 to the end of the 2013/14 season.
