The Football Association of England (FA) is conducting an investigation regarding referee David Coote due to alleged match-fixing activities, as reported by The Sun.
The allegations pertain to a Championship match between Leeds and West Bromwich, which took place on October 1, 2019. Coote reportedly made arrangements with an acquaintance who placed a bet on a yellow card being issued to Leeds player Ezgjan Alioski. The referee showed the yellow card to the player in the 18th minute of the match.
According to journalist Martin Ziegler from The Times, UEFA made its decision after reviewing a video published by The Sun. The footage shows the referee inhaling a white powder while officiating at the 2024 European Championship. In Germany, Coote was serving as a Video Assistant Referee. He is 42 years old and has been officiating Premier League matches since 2018.
